Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Community Cardiology
(PGDPCC)
Care foundation & CARE Hospital is selected by Indira Gandhi National
Open University, New Delhi to conduct its 2 year Post Graduate Diploma
course in Community Cardiology.
CARE Hospital is the only institution in Andhra Pradesh selected for
this course
The aim of this course is to train larger number of medical graduates to
deal effectively with the early recognition, management and prevention
of common cardiovascular diseases and associated diseases like diabetes
mellitus, hypertension.
In this 2 year in-service residential programme for post MBBS doctors,
training is provided in Clinical and Non Invasive Cardiology. The
emphasis will be on supervised clinical cardiology, coronary care and
‘hands on’ experience with non invasive investigations like
echocardiography and stress testing.
Training is not provided in Invasive Cardiology like Cardio
Catheterization and Interventional Cardiology.
Successful completion of this programme will lead to certification with
a Diploma in Community Cardiology from the Indira Gandhi National Open
University (IGNOU).
IGNOU has advertised in leading newspapers calling for application for
the course and after the selection process the course is likely to start
by March / April 2006.
