Neurology :
The Department of Neurology at CARE Hospital , Hyderabad is an accredited department to train candidates in Neurology for DNB with an intake of 2 candidates per year. Since the beginning of the course, the department is able to attract good students from all over the country and is able to fill the seats every year. At present six candidates are undergoing training. The first batch candidates have passed the examination in the first attempt.
The admissions for the academic year 2008 are open. The last date for the admissions is February 15, 2005 . Advertisement will be issued in the month of January 2008. For the advertisement kindly look in the major English News Papers.
Eligibility Criteria: Must hold MD degree in Internal Medicine or Pediatrics
Must have qualified in the common entrance examination test (CET) for super specialty courses being conducted by the National Board of Examination ( Note :This is a new clause introduced by the NBE from this year onwards . Kindly visit the Website of NBE for further details ) .
There will be an interview by a board constituted by the Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences , at CARE Foundation , C/O CARE Hospital Hyderabad.
The fee structure is as per the rules of the National Board of Examinations. No other fee in any form is levied.

The Department of Family Medicine admits Four candidates per year to its DNB programme in the superspecialty of
Family Medicine.
Intensive training is imparted in the specialistis of medicine, surgery,

Anaesthesia :
The Department of Anaesthesia admits Four candidates per year to its DNB programme in the super-specialty of
Anaesthesia ( two for CET qualified and two for those who have passed
Diploma in Anaesthesia )
The Department of Anaesthesia of CARE Hospital provides anaesthesia for
all patients including very high risk patients of all specialities and
super-specialties under going surgery. It provides round the clock cover
of post-operative patients in four high dependency units, runs
Pre-anaesthesia evaluation clinic & acute pain service, provides round
the clock support to the Intensive care team and aids in transportation
of critically ill patients from referral hospitals.
The department also actively participate in academic sessions organised
by the hospital, conducts its own academic programmes, holds periodic
training in BLS/ACLS/ATLS/Venous access and conducts a number of CMEs/Workshops
every year.

Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery :
The department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery of CARE Hospital,
The Institute of Medical Sciences, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad is
academically active and performs more than 1350 cardiac operations
annually with increasing proportion of either complex procedures or
reoperations. Active program exists in all facets of adult and pediatric
cardiac surgery including off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting on
pump CABG, re-operative CABG, mitral valve repair procedures ,
re-operative valve procedures, MAZE surgery, Aortic surgery , heart
transplantation and Robotic assisted CABG. A facility – virtual heart-
is available for training the young surgeons on beating heart CABG.
Pediatric cardiac program consists of exclusive pediatric cardiologists,
intensivists and cardiac surgeons. All types of pediatric cardiac
surgical procedures are performed and include ASD closure, VSD closure,
Intra Cardiac Repair for Tetralogy of Fallot, Arterial Switch Operation,
Senning's operation, TCPC, PDA ligation and re-operations. The thoracic
surgical procedures performed at this centre include pneumonectomy,
lobectomy, sleeve resection and tracheal resection and reconstruction.
The department conducts DNB Program in CTVS.
Candidates who have completed MS in Surgery are eligible for this 3 -
year superspecialty course. The admission process starts in November/
December and the academic starts from 1st of January.
General Medicine :
The department of One of it’s only kind that has an out-patient,
in-patient, medical intensive care unit and specialty clinics. This
department collaborates with all other departments in a multi-specialty
hospital.
OPD: A busy OP clinic seen by all the consultants that manage routine
Internal Medicine problems
Medical Intensive Care Unit: A state of the art 14 bedded ICU where
seriously ill medical patients are managed by physicians. Multi-system
problems, Renal failures, septic patients, poisonings and other patients
needing ventilation and intensive care are managed here.
Wards: Where Where cold patients are managed, Patients with classic
origins and symptoms offer a great teaching experience.
Specialty Clinics: Hypertension, Dysmetabolic clinic, HIV clinics
are busy areas.
Academics: A daily morning sessions which includes Radiology, Journal
club, case presentation, CPCs and bed-side clinics.

The Division of Gastroenterology at the CARE Hospital Hyderabad, the
Institute of Medical Sciences represents one of the important centers
for digestive and liver diseases. The Division of Gastroenterology was
established about 3 years ago as a specialty division. The Division has
successfully nurtured broad clinical interests in treating & research in
clinical excellence and has attracted both local and non local for its
contributions to the field of Gastroenterology. The Division has
continued to affirm these strong traditions of academic excellence,
which are deeply embedded in the institutional philosophy.
The clinical services of the Division of Gastroenterology are provided

Division of Gastroenterology has a diverse clinical base with
experienced, skilled consultants conducting current state of art
therapies in the fields of interventional gastroenterology i.e

Orthopedics :
The department of Orthopedics and Trauma services at Care hospitals has
grown tremendously since its inception in 2001. The department was
founded and headed by Professor B N Prasad with the sole goal to provide
excellent care and service to patients. His vast teaching experience has
prompted him to continue to contribute and share his Orthopaedic
experiences to the fraternity.
In addition to offering general orthopaedic care, the department has sub
divisions specialized in Hip and Knee Joint replacements. Advanced Spine
Surgeries, Hand and Micro-vascular surgeries, Arthroscopy.
The faculty includes, Dr. N. Anand, Clinical assistant and Consultant
Orthopaedic Surgeon at Care Banjara, Dr. P. Joshua, Consultant
Orthopaedic Surgeon at Care Nampally, Dr. Venkataramana, Hand Surgeon,
Dr. Raghuveer Reddy, Arthroscopy surgeon.
In the last 4 years the department has catered to 4200 Out patients, of
which 1000 surgeries have been conducted. Specialised dedicated

Urology :
The Department of Urology, CARE Hospital Hyderabad has 6 full time
urologists each having experience of 20 -25years in Urology. All these
urologists were professors in various institutions in Andhra Pradesh.
The department carries out all the urological procedures in general
urology, pediatric urology, endo-urology and renal transplantation is
also carried out by this department, apart from other laparoscopic
procedures.
Yearly approximately 6000 OP patients are seen and about 1200 surgeries
are carried out in the department of Urology
The Department of Urology has procured da Vinci Robotic equipment.

The Division of Ostolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic Surgery is headed by Dr .N.Vishnu Swaroop Reddy.
Dr. Reddy was working in the UNITED KIGDOM for 10 years (1993-2003) and returned to CARE Hospital, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad in 2003.
He had been trained at Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital , London.

The division offers chronic dialysis programme at Banjara Hills, Nampally and Musheerabad units. Together these units perform about 1,500 haemodialysis sessions per month which is one of the highest number done in the city by a unit.
As part of the chronic dialysis programme, CAPD (continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis) services are offered and presently more than 35 patients are on CAPD in the unit.
The dept has a active transplant programme doing on an average three tranplants per month. We offer only live related and cadaver transplants only. Till date since the transplant programme was initiated in May 2004 we have done close to 75 renal transplants out of them 11 being cadaver transplants.
The unit has OP and IP services in all the four units. It has the distinction of having a lot of Acute renal work mainly in the multiple ICCU’s that are there in the four hospitals. In the ICU setting apart from Haemodialysis and SLED (slow low efficiency extended dialysis) facilities, all the units routinely perform CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapies) . In fact the dept has the distinction of performing one of the highest no of CRRT in the the country. CARE hospitals have organized the first and second CRRT workshops in the country the first in February 2004 and the second in February 2008. In future the CRRT workshop will be a regular affair to be held every two years. Dr.R.Chakravarthi has been invited as a faculty to the International CRRT conference held at Sandiego for the last four consecutive meetings.
The dept has regular academic programmes for nurses, technicians, undergraduate students and lately for DNB nephrology trainees. Dept has one seat allotted by the Natonal Board to train DNB students from this academic year.
