Highlights of Gynec Laparoscopy 2005 Workshop held on the 28th & 29th May 2005.

 

We conducted "GYNEC-LAPAROSCOPY 2005" workshop and symposia in Care Hospital, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad on the 28th and 29th May 2005. This workshop was conducted by our Department of Minimal Access and Robotic Surgery (MARS).

 

 

Minimal Access Surgery, also known as Keyhole surgery, is the order of the day in many specialties of Surgery. The main advantages of this type of surgery are avoidance of big scars with better cosmetic value, minimal post-operative pain and minimal hospitalization. Minimal Access Surgery technique is also followed in gynecology.
 


It was an interesting workshop keeping in view the basics and the advanced techniques in Laparoscopic surgery in Gynecology. 367 delegates attended this workshop from all over the country. The faculty is chosen from the active centers in various parts of the country who demonstrated various surgical techniques in gynecology. The faculty performed over 18 operations both days together.

The surgical procedures were performed in the operating rooms of Care Hospital, in Banjara Hills and were transmitted live to the Venue - Taj Residency Hotel. The afternoon sessions on both the days included the symposia covering almost twelve subjects in Gynea Laparoscopic surgery with good interactive sessions.

This workshop was aimed at giving a thorough knowledge of various aspects ranging from basic operating theatre set up to advanced techniques of various procedures. For a beginner it was a good eye opener, for a trained surgeon a revision and for an expert, a forum for discussion.

This programme was organized under the auspices of Care Hospital, with Dr B Soma Raju as the chief Patron and Dr B Narsaiah as Organizing secretary, Dr A Manjula as co-organizing secretary and Dr M A Saleem as the coordinator.
 

The inaugural function of the workshop was in the lawns of Hotel Taj Banjara on the evening of 28th May, which was followed by a Banquet Dinner hosted by Care Hospital. Dr P Krishnam Raju, Chairman, Care foundation was the chief guest. Mr K T Vara Prasada Reddy, MD, Santha Biotechnics, and Mr C Srini Raju, Chairman, I Labs were the guests of honour and Dr B Soma Raju, Chairman Care Hospital presided over the function. Dr A Raja Gopala Raju and Dr N Krishna Reddy were the special invitees.
